Purpose: To investigate the correlation of 18F-FDG PET/CT molecular imaging metabolic parameters before radiotherapy and short-term curative effect of different pathological types NSCLC
Methods: 18F-FDG PET/CT images were collected from 61 patients with NSCLC. GTV is delineated on the PET/CT fusion image with SUV values greater than 2.5.Extracting several of tumor metabolic parameters, including SUV volume histograms, maximum standard uptake value(SUVmax), Mean standardized uptake value(SUVmean),metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis(TLG) and area under the curve of cumulative SUV volume histogram(AUC-CSH). Evaluation of radiotherapy response after four weeks of treatment. The correlation between metabolic parameters and short-term response was analyzed statistically.
Results: In squamous cell carcinoma, except MTVï¼Œall parameters were the influencing factors associated with the short-term efficacy.Multivariate analysis, SUVmaxwas found as the independent prognosis factor of short-term efficacy, and in squamous cell carcinoma, AUC-CSH was the only independent prognosis factor.Receiver-operating characteristic curve analysis,the cut-off threshold of SUVmax was 8.650, with sensitivity 76.5%, specificity 100% in adenocarcinoma;in squamous cell carcinoma, the cut-off threshold of AUC-CSH was 0.4715, with sensitivity 83.3%, specificity 100%. It can be used as an early predictor of treatment response in patients with NSCLC.
Conclusion: The metabolic tumor heterogeneity characterized may be valuable for predicting treatment response for patients with NSCLC.But there were differences between the different pathological types, different parameters should be used to predict short-term response for different pathological types.
