Scientific developments in brachytherapy continue to be propelled by advances in technology pertaining to implantation, imaging, source and applicator design, applicators, tracking modulated delivery, and beyond. The scientific session focuses on recent advances brachytherapy that have shown to be promising either in the preclinical and clinical setting, as presented by leading scientists. Specifically, the session will be divided in the following four topics: 1) MR-Guided Brachytherapy, 2) Robot-Assisted Brachytherapy, 3) Intensity Modulated brachytherapy, and, 4) Electromagnet tracking and guidance.
Learning objectives:
1. Familiarize oneself with recent scientific advances in brachytherapy
2. Understand the potential role of emerging technology in brachytherapy procedures
3. Understand the challenges and limitations pertaining to the clinical implementation of new brachytherapy techniques
