Room: Exhibit Hall
Purpose: There are several information systems in radiotherapy department, each one covers a part of the work in Radiation Oncology. In order to give a full view of the whole workflow in the department to physicians, we develop an integrated information system based in web browser. Each patient has a progress bar in the webpage. Therefore, Physicians can arrange the work precisely everyday based on the use of the RT workflow system.
Methods: The system was built as Browser/Server structure, in the form of a web site. The server runs on a Windows 2008 server operating system, in which the database is MYSQL,the app server is APACHE WAMP, the development language is PHP, and the front-end framework is HTML5. The system connects to other OIS like MOSAIQ (ELEKTA) and aria through the standard interface. The client can access the server through the web browser.
Results: After the registration in the reception desk, the patient’s name shows on the RT workflow system home page. The system has 13 steps for each patient on the home page, including immobilization, image importing, contouring, prescription, treatment planning, evaluation, transmission, plan report, patient positioning, portal imaging, chart check, treatment arrangement, treatment. At first all the tags are gray, the tag of each step turns green after the work has been done by the responsible person. For example, when the contouring finished, the physician confirms the contouring situation on the page, then the tag of contouring turns green. The workflow system can also capture the information of the patient from other OIS, then change the situation of the tags automatically.
Conclusion: The RT workflow system shows the whole workflow of patients in the department of radiotherapy to the physician and other staff, optimizing the work in the department, improving the efficiency of labor.
