Purpose: To investigate the benefit of implementing a commercial data base system for ongoing daily/weekly/monthly Quality Assurance of the Linear Accelerators.
Methods: The daily, Weekly and monthly parameters for the quality assurance of the Versa HD were measured as required by standard guidelines AAPM TG-142, and then inserted to PTW Track-It ; a browser based database system. All the measurements were fall into 4 major categories: Safety, Mechanical, Dosimetry and Imaging. The daily and weekly tests were performed by a therapist, and the measured values were uploaded in the daily and weekly reports of Track-it system. The monthly dosimetric and imaging measurements were performed by the medical physicist and the values were uploaded in the monthly reports of Track-it for easy access to the data.
Results: With using Track-it system, we could effectively monitor and document our QA tasks (daily, weekly, monthly). Track-it quicken the access to the data and allowed viewing of the QA data within our network. Tools such as running charts were used to identify trends, outliers and deviations from previously defined limits were recognized more easily. Such deviations were immediately spotted. Track-it made it easy to track changes over time from our baseline values and to take action when needed.
Conclusion: Use of Track-it, as a browser-based versatile QA data management software, for Quality Assurance of the Linear Accelerators has numerous advantages. Overall, Track-it made it possible to conveniently monitor our QA tasks and document the results as required in less time, and made it easy to track changes over time and to take action when needed.
