Room: Room 205
The transition in PET imaging from the conventional photomultiplier tube (PMT) detector to the new generation solid state light sensor detector is a major technology leap in PET/CT imaging. This session aims to introduce and give an update of the emerging and new PET instrumentations and technologies from different manufactures, focusing on solid state SiPM digital PET detector designs, system characteristics, and clinical practices. Physicists, physicians and technologists wishing to better understand future PET systems and novel PET technologies are expected to attend this symposium.
Learning Objectives:
1. Enumerate and describe emerging and new solid state PET instrumentations across manufactures (Philips, GE and Siemens)
2. Learn and understand basics of solid state PET detector design technologies
3. Understand differences in system characteristics, performance and clinical practice of solid state PET systems from different vendors
