Room: 303
Ultrasound is among the most rapidly advancing imaging techniques. New ultrasound imaging technologies such as Photoacoustic Imaging (PAI) has been clinically introduced for surgery guidance, and Electromechanical Wave Imaging (EWI) can evaluate changes in contractility in the heart.
This section will introduce the most advanced ultrasound techniques and its clinical applications. For example, in EWI, we will describe high frame rate ultrasound acquisitions and processing methods and results associated with the characterization of cardiac ischemia and arrhythmia. In PAI, we will describe the innovations including novel light delivery systems that attach to surgical tools, coherence-based and deep learning beamforming techniques to clarify images, and integration of photoacoustic imaging systems with surgical and interventional robots.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand PAI methodology and its clinical applications.
2. Understand EWI methodology and its clinical applications
3. Understand ultrasound imaging reconstruction and strain estimation for high frame rate ultrasound
