Room: Stars at Night Ballroom 1
The first 30-min of this workshop will present an overview of diagnostic ultrasound QA/QC. “Annual Survey requirements will be emphasized, and effective methods for testing will be described. This will be followed by 90-min live demonstrations of the steps and pitfalls of ACR required tests, including image uniformity and artifact survey, geometric accuracy, system sensitivity, and display monitor evaluations. An array of phantoms, scanners, and ultrasound testing tools will be available at separate stations for attendees to gain knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound QC tests in a hands-on environment. Specialized transducer test equipment and innovative software programs for QC image analysis will also be featured.
The targeted attendees are medical physicists and other medical professionals in diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology with interest in diagnostic ultrasound QC.
Learning Objectives:
1. To gain familiarity with common elements of a QA/QC program for diagnostic ultrasound imaging that meets ACR ultrasound accreditation requirements
2. To identify QC tools, phantoms, and software for testing diagnostic ultrasound systems and to gain experience using these devices on general purpose ultrasound scanners as well as on a whole breast screening ultrasound system.
