Purpose: To evaluate the effect of motion on MVCT images acquired by Helical Tomotherapy for feature analysis.
Methods:
Methods: For each of the 195 textures enrolled, the feature value of mean intrapatient difference were calculated from MVCT images of 22 patients with early-state non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), which were considered as the benchmark for reproducibility. Test-retest MVCT images of an in-house designed phantom, which comprised 10 kinds of different texture materials, were acquired to determine the concordance correlation coefficient (CCC) for the same 195 texture features. Features with high reproducibility (CCC>0.9) in the phantom test-retest set were investigated for the sensitivity to different motion frequencies by dynamic motion phantom (Computerized Imaging Reference Systems, Inc.) carrying a 5ⅹ5ⅹ5 cm³ block of the wood with a motion range of 2 cm with motion frequencies of 0,15,20 and 25 beats per minute (BPM).
Results:
Results: For all the 195 features, 165 (85%) features had a CCC >0.9. For the wood, when the images protocol keeps consistent, without motion, all of those 124 features were reproducible, and 56(45%) features were passed when f=15 BPM, while only 55 (44%) and 40 (32%) features passed with motion frequencies of 20 and 25 bites per minute. There were 33 features pass the test under both motion frequencies
Conclusion:
Conclusion: frequency has a significant impact on MVCT texture features and the effect from faster frequency is more obvious.
