As the treatment planning process moves towards more full automation, the job of treatment planners will be changing as will the physicist’s role in overseeing the process. In this professional session, we will discuss how automated planning is already impacting real-world dosimetry operations in terms of quality and efficiency. New models that optimize the treatment planning workflow around this new automation will be discussed. Whenever possible, data from current clinical implementation of these technologies will be presented; all speakers have experience in managing dosimetry teams and implementing automation in place of previously manually-driven processes.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand existing automation tools that have impacted planning quality and efficiency
2. Understand the advantages of redesigning the planning process around automation
