Pre-Register for Childcare at the Annual AAPM Meeting in San Antonio

Kristi Hendrickson, PhD, Seattle, WA

Childcare at the annual AAPM meeting is available again this year! Camp AAPM, as it is known, is available with an additional registration step on the same website where you register for the meeting itself. The hours of operation are Saturday noon to 6:30 PM, Sunday through Wednesday 7:00 am to 6:30 pm, and Thursday 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. The location is within the Convention Center, Room 006AB, River Level. Children from ages 6 months to 12 years can be accommodated and will participate in age-appropriate activities including arts and crafts projects, active games and much more. Please pre-register by June 29, 2019, for planning of appropriate staffing levels. The program is managed by Accent on Children's Arrangements, Inc., a national child care company also used by RSNA.

This childcare arrangement offered by AAPM is the same as last year, with no changes in support or rates, except that childcare hours are extended to include the board meeting on Thursday.

Pre-register for the Women Physicists Luncheon on Tuesday, July 16

Jaclyn Marcel, MS, Philadelphia, PA

The WPSC is once again hosting a Women Physicists Luncheon on Tuesday during the annual meeting. Registration for the luncheon is an additional step in the meeting registration. In previous years, the luncheon has filled up weeks before the event date, leading to a long waitlist and many disappointed potential attendees. This year the WPSC secured a larger room for the event, increasing capacity in the hopes of accommodating most if not all those who want to attend. Consequently, registration fees increased slightly to $30 for all categories except students and residents, who pay $20. During registration, there is also an option to contribute an additional amount to help defray overall luncheon costs, which are principally covered by supportive corporate sponsors rather than registration fees.

This year, instead of a single speaker the WPSC will have a panel of women physicists who will address some pre-determined questions and take questions from the audience. This time there will also be some dedicated time at the beginning of the luncheon to network with other attendees seated at your table. Please make time to join us at this fun and popular networking event!

WPSC Happy Hour on Tuesday, July 16

Julianne M. Pollard-Larkin, PhD, Houston, TX

Once again this year, the WPSC will be hosting a joint happy hour with the Diversity & Inclusion subcommittee. This event will take place from 5-6:30 pm on Tuesday July 16, after the WPSC luncheon and prior to the AAPM Night Out. We will meet at the Guadalajara Grill, 301 South Alamo, which is conveniently located next to the convention center and at the entrance of the La Villita area where the Night Out is taking place. Please join us to continue conversations started during the luncheon or just to socialize and meet new people! There is no need to pre-register.
