Room: Track 6
Radioembolization using yttrium-90 microspheres has become one of the most common theranostic applications. As an interdisciplinary technique, hospital departments such as Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiation Oncology may contribute to treatment.
This professional session will begin with a medical physicist discussing regulatory challenges across different jurisdictions, potential differences in support between therapeutic, diagnostic and medical nuclear physicists, and recommendations for those new to Y-90 treatments. The second half of the session will feature an interventional radiologist discussing treatment techniques, periprocedural clinical management of the patient, and outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the regulatory differences across jurisdictions in Y-90 microsphere licensing
2. Understand the roles of different team members and departments
3. Understand the interventionalist's perspective on periprocedural clinical management of the patient
