Room: Track 5

Scientific merits and favorable clinical outcomes of permanent seed or source implantation (PSI) for treating prostate cancer are well established. In addition to prostate, cancer in other anatomical sites such as breast, lung, liver, head & neck, liver, etc. are being treated with PSI brachytherapy and clinical outcomes are encouraging. Over the years, significant technological advancements such as usage of multimodal imaging for tumor or OAR delineation, model-based dosimetric computation, real-time dynamic dose computation, robot-assisted seed or source delivery, MRI based or MRI-only post-operative dosimetry, automatic or semi-automatic seed identification with various imaging system (CT, MRI, US, etc.), and application of artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning are observed in PSI brachytherapy area. In this session, application of PSI in various anatomical sites, quality and safety of PSI, new and advanced technology for PSI will be discussed.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn various techniques used for PSI in different anatomical sites
2. Understand the fundamentals of PSI program quality and safety
3. Understand the importance of application of multi-modal imaging in PSI
4. Learn the new and advance methodologies and technologies available for PSI
