Room: Track 4

MRI safety is currently a topic of special interest in imaging. As the use of MRI has become more ubiquitous so has the desire to scan in situations that previously not considered (e.g., patient active implants). New devices with increasingly difficult constraints require expertise to ensure sufficient image quality without causing patient harm. General education on MR safety has increased in the past 5 years; however, many physicists are still uncomfortable implementing the principles of MR safety in routine practice. This course will be a series of case reviews discussing specific safety situations and how they were handled.

Learning Objectives:
1. Understand what kinds of MR safety situations arise in clinical practice
2. Discuss how to address clinical MR safety issues
3. Understand the role of a Diagnostic Medical Physicist in MR Safety
