The American Board of Radiology (ABR) is a member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), which was formed in 1933. The early days of the ABMS will be described, along with how the ABR fit into the overall initial concept of Board certification.

The evolution of the ABR’s initial certification (IC) program for medical physicists over the past 90 years will then be described. The current educational and experiential requirements and the current exam structure for initial certification will be presented.

Finally, the current state of the ABR Maintenance of Certification (MOC) initiatives will be described, along with a brief overview of the status of the on-line longitudinal assessment (OLA) program.

8. Explain the process for how the ABR MOC program is reviewed and improved
9. Describe changes to the ABR MOC program since original implementation
