Room: Track 6
Task Group reports. These reports serve as standard references for a wide range of topics. Many AAPM members are involved in writing and reviewing TG reports. However, until recently, reports have been quire variable in content, format, length, and structure. This can make them difficult to use. In addition, the review process for TG reports can be very long and involved, requiring much time from reviewers as well as writers and possibly delaying the publication of timely information. The Therapy Physics Committee has developed TG writing and reviewing guidelines to address these problems. The guidelines specify what content is required, e.g. statement of charges, FMEA for applicable topics, final recommendations, and where in the body of the report these should be. The reviewing guidelines point out difference between reviewing a TG report and a scientific manuscript. They guide reviewers in ensuring that the report adequately addresses the Task Group’s charges while also preventing scope creep. They also guide reviewers in keeping their own comments on point, and in accessing prior reviews and comment resolutions, to avoid reopening previously-resolved issues. This session will present these guidelines and other helpful information for writing and reviewing task group reports.
