It is recognized that medical physics as a profession has become a global enterprise, and that on some issues the worldwide medical physics community should collaborate. AAPM's Executive Committee seeks to meet yearly with the leadership of other related organizations.
EXCOM and the leadership of the COMP held very productive meetings during the COMP Annual Scientific Meeting in Ottawa, Ontario in June. Given history and geography, AAPM and COMP have a unique collaborative relationship. We are working on a Memorandum of Understanding to define the details of several longstanding agreements regarding joint membership and issues relating to AAPM's journals.
EXCOM met with IOMP representatives to discuss the International Day of Medical Physics, the equipment and library donation programs and opportunities for collaboration in support of upcoming meetings.
A meeting was held with representatives of the ABR to discuss various topics including the Online Longitudinal Assessment (OLA), results of 2016-2017 ABR Exams, and professionalism and ethics.
EXCOM then met with leaders from EFOMP as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two groups in 2015. EFOMP provided an update on several initiatives and the discussion centered around opportunities for collaboration.
IOMP is once again promoting activities to raise awareness about the role of medical physicists through the International Day of Medical Physics (IDMP). The 2017 IDMP is scheduled for November 7, the birthdate in 1867 of Marie Sklodowska-Curie. The theme of IDMP 2017 is "Medical Physics: Providing a Holistic Approach to Women Patients and Women Staff Safety in Radiation Medicine." This is an excellent opportunity to promote the role of medical physicists. Visit the IOMP website for more information and promotional resources.

Lisa Schober, our Executive Office Manager, and her husband Erik recently announced that they are expecting TWINS in January of 2018. Big brother Gunnar made the announcement to the AAPM HQ team by sporting a t-shirt to the Annual AAPM Team Picnic stating, "I'm going to be the big brother of twins!" It was so much fun watching the expressions of our team as they "got it!"
Congratulations to Aaron Rudd, our Office Services Assistant, on earning his Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration from Strayer University. Aaron is working on his BA degree in Human Resource Management expects to graduate in the spring of 2018.
