At the spring meeting, the Board of Directors approved a rules change affecting the Meeting Coordination Committee (MCC). The approved new purpose of the MCC is that now the Committee shall have responsibility for all aspects of the Association's Annual Meeting, Spring Clinical Meeting, Summer School, Specialty Meetings, auxiliary events, and other meetings assigned to it by the Administrative Council. This replaces the outdated purpose that the Committee shall have responsibility for all aspects of the Annual Meeting of the Association. It was outdated because for some years now MCC has been the parent committee for the Spring Clinical Meeting and Specialty Meetings. Now, the Summer School SC also resides under the MCC umbrella. The Annual Meeting has always been the responsibility of MCC, and will continue to be as a subcommittee of MCC. MCC has been tasked with the charge to develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive plan to coordinate and review the timing, content, and focus of the meetings under the purview of this committee. This will include an assessment of the balance of science, education, clinical practice, professional issues, and continuing education offerings at the meetings. The reorganized MCC should be better positioned to achieve these goals. There will be more effective communications between the planners/organizers of all MCC meetings. The individual meetings will retain their unique character and focus, with more attention to how the totality of the three meetings can optimally meet the needs of our members. Though we can't please all the people all the time, we can try.
