Mahadevappa Mahesh, MS, PhD was elected as President of the Maryland Radiological Society (MRS) for a two-year term starting June 2017. MRS is the state chapter of the American College of Radiology with more than 693 members. Less than 10% of MRS membership is made up of medical physicists and being elected, as the President of a local radiological society is a true recognition of the contribution of medical physics members.
Dr. Mahesh is the second only medical physicist in the nation to become the president of a local chapter of the American College of Radiology. Dr. Mahesh is a Professor of Radiology and Cardiology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and is the Chief Physicist at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Mahesh is currently the Treasurer of AAPM.
