Presentations

(Thursday, 7/16/2020) 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM [Eastern Time (GMT-4)]

Room: Track 5

Over the past number of years MR-guided linac systems have been installed in a number of clinics worldwide. That being said, this is a relatively new piece of technology that requires special consideration in a radiation oncology environment. This session will provide relevant clinical knowledge to people interested in pursuing MR-Linac technology using either low field or high field systems.

The following topics will be covered: a/ MRI safety, zoning and training in a radiation therapy culture b/ installation considerations followed by commissioning tests, required QA devices as well as tolerances and frequencies of QC tests and staffing requirements c/ adaptive workflows including how and when to adapt based on daily online MRI imaging and patient specific QA considerations. The speakers will provide there clinical experiences using the different MR-Linac systems.

Learning Objectives:
1. to learn how to integrate MR-Linac technology into an existing radiation oncology department
2. to understand what is required for the clinical readiness of such a system, and
3. to understand the clinical benefits these systems may provide with regard to online plan
adaptation.

Funding Support, Disclosures, and Conflict of Interest: Sunnybrook is a member of the Elekta Unity MR-Linac Consortium. Brian Keller has received prior funding from Elekta. MD Anderson is a member of the Elekta Unity MRL consortium. Jihong Wang has received an Elekta sponsored research grant.
