MPLA Session: Personal Leadership in Uncertain Times

J Johnson1*, (1) Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, Houston, TX

Presentations

(Tuesday, 7/14/2020) 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM [Eastern Time (GMT-4)]

Room: Track 6

People are not always great about reading the room in the best of times. We all know "that person" that is "right" regardless of other participants’ body language, tone, etc. We have unfortunately learned first-hand when the situation does not always turn out the way we planned. So, how does this change with new normal under covid-19 circumstances? Individuals are experiencing increased stress and anxiety in general, with fewer visual and aural cues with remote work.

Learning Objectives:
1. Perceive others’ visual and aural social cues in both an in-person and remote work environment.
2. Contrast cues in healthy situations with those in anxiety-induced environments.
3. Choose approaches to minimize negative professional consequences.
