Room: AAPM ePoster Library

In the past several years, there has been a steady rise in the number of so called "in-house" diagnostic physics positions in hospitals and academic medical centers across the United States. At the same time, the number of CAMPEP residency programs in imaging physics has risen from only a handful in the beginning of the decade to well over two dozen merely ten years later. Furthermore, the essence of the medical physics profession in diagnostic and nuclear imaging remains highly varied from one employer to the next and the nature of the field itself continues to rapidly evolve and, ergo, define the profession. This presentation is meant to cast some light on the current landscape of the in-house physicist's working environment with the intended aim to help incoming, present, and emerging residents and graduates better navigate the options and opportunities available to them in seeking and landing their preferred job.
