Purpose: In recent years, the number of companion animals has continued to increase. There is growing interest in the medical field of companions' companion animals, and animal diseases and cancer types are also becoming diverse. Hence, we designed Iris Collimator (IC) which can make the desired shape of the irradiation field in radiotherapy.

Methods: The geometry of Iris Collimator is designed as 2 cm thickness of the leaf and the angle of inner diameter is set to 30° from the center and twelve ribs were made to engage with each other to form a circle. We tried to drive twelve Leaf of the previous Iris Collimator as one sub- motor (Oriental moor’s PK543AW-T20). To do this, we first made a fixed plate that can fix each leaf individually and perform circular motion. The fixing plate used was made of brass as in Leaf, and the remaining frames were made of reinforced plastic and grooved like grooves. When the sub-motor is operated, the gears attached to the motor are driven. In order to control Iris Collimator, PAXI's NMC2E-420 4-axis control model and PMD- 3U1D driver was used. The PC used a National Instrument PXIe-8840.

Results: In this study, we have developed an accelerator - based radiotherapy device for animal radiation therapy and designed and developed a collimator capable of irradiating only the tumor while protecting the normal tissue during irradiation.

Conclusion: By attaching the developed collimator to the radiotherapy device under development, it is thought that it will be possible to change the irradiation field.
