The New Professionals Subcommittee (NPSC) offers a New Member Symposium (NMS) at each Summer Meeting in order to provide information about how to become involved with AAPM and how to deal with issues that students, trainees, and people new to medical physics jobs are faced with. This summer our topic is Becoming Employed and Involved in Medical Physics, and we invite you to come with your questions about how to search for a job, become a team member, and how to become a volunteer for AAPM.

AAPM President Cynthia McCollough will discuss leadership of the AAPM, and a panel of experts will discuss topics relevant to job candidacy and AAPM’s volunteer organization: Karl Rasmussen is the Vice Chair of the Placement Service Subcommittee and will discuss the resources available for job seekers through the AAPM website; Jatinder Palta, Chair of the Administrative Council, James Dobbins, Chair of the Education Council, Daniel Pavord, Chair of the Professional Council, and Benedick Fraass, Chair of the Science Council will join our speakers at tables to discuss your interests, concerns, and ideas. The highlights from the tables will then be presented to everyone present at NMS.

Learning Objectives:
1. Understand where to find resources to help you with your job search
2. Understand the leadership structure of the AAPM
3. Understand how to become involved in committees and in leadership of AAPM
