Purpose: The imaging principle of MVCT images results in a large amount of noise and relatively low contrast of in the images. This makes the images only for the correction of body position. For this limit, the post-processed method BM3D+DFR was used to process the MVCT.

Methods: MVCT images of four case patients were obtained, which including Head & neck, abdomens, pelvic and chest image. Four pairs of noisy MVCT images were processed respectively by BM3D+DFR method. The contrast to noise ratio (CNR) indicators the quantitative analysis of the treatment effect.

Results: Post-processed MVCT images by BM3D+DFR method show a significant improvement in soft tissue contrast. In Head & neck images, tissues and organs become noticeable in post-processed images. In abdomens and pelvic and chest images, there is a clear boundary between soft tissues. The CNRs of both regions of interest in the Head & neck patients improved from 0.09 and 0.28 to 0.53 and 1.33, respectively. The CNRs of both regions of interest in the abdomen patients improved from 0.98 and 1.09 to 3.34 and 3.45, respectively. The CNRs of both regions of interest in the pelvic patients improved from 0.08 and 0.09 to 0.75 and 0.46, respectively. The CNRs of both regions of interest in the chest patients improved from 0.25 and 0.15 to 1.86 and 1.45, respectively. The result is superior to the Discriminative feature representation.

Conclusion: BM3D+DFR algorithm can not only preserve the original details but also improve the visual effect of the original image while using MVCT for image guided radiotherapy and self- Adapt to radiotherapy to lay the foundation.
