In an era of continually constrained resources in healthcare we need to look at ways to find the best use of our time and resources. This session will focus on three areas. The first is the use of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to identify which activities are a priority. The definition of KPI’s will be described, how to develop meaningful KPI’s and examples in medical physics will be given. The next focus will be on the utilization of information technology, benchmark data, and quality improvement tools with a focus on automation. Again, real-life examples will be given. Lastly, the impact of limited resources on quality and safety will be discussed.

Learning Objectives:
1. What is a KPI.
2. How KPI’s can be developed.
3. How to use automation to improve efficiency and quality.
4. How limited resources might impact quality and safety.
