Presentations

(Thursday, 8/2/2018) 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM

Room: Karl Dean Ballroom A2

Quality and safety is one of the important topics in residency education that does not have well-established curricula or teaching methods. In this session we will provide a venue for presenting curricular ideas by invited speakers on the topic of patient safety and quality improvement and a forum for the audience to discuss adaption and additional ideas on this topic.

The session begins with presentations by two residency program educators on how they have implemented their curricula for patient safety and quality improvement. Following the presentations, session organizers will instruct the audience to organize into small groups in which they will discuss how they could adapt the curricular ideas just presented into their programs, and what additional ideas they can offer, following prepared handouts. The session is concluded by inviting audience members to report on their group’s discussion. The aspirational goal of such a forum is to elevate the quality of residency education by enhancing the opportunity to learn from each other.

Learning Objectives:
1. Participate in an interactive forum for the sharing of education ideas
2. Be able to adapt techniques shared in this session into your own medical physics residency or graduate program
3. Become aware of various techniques for teaching patient safety and quality improvement
