The current global economic environment, (i.e., rising costs, lack of resources, and fierce competition) has continued to put a strain on how radiation oncology facilities can provide patients with high quality treatment plans in a timely manner. To help mediate these issues, vendors are being to introduce intelligent automation in all their imaging devices, treatment planning and workflow software. The advancements of Intelligent Automation can make the work of clinicians in image review and contouring; treatment planning, and treatment delivery less labor-intensive. Ingeniously, intelligent automation is about more than just saving time: by reducing the repetitive work and freeing clinicians to focus on what really matters, intelligent automation has the potential to increase the efficiency of a busy resource-limited department and, more importantly, to improve the quality of treatment plans. However, a key challenge with the use of intelligent automation is incorporating the radiation oncologists’, medical physicists', dosimetrists’ clinical experience and decision-making within the autonomous process.

Therefore, the purpose of this lecture is to allow vendors to present their solutions and describe how their product can increase efficiency, plan quality control and enable more extensive adaptive planning processes.
